Hey everyone!

So I was waiting for the next chapter to come out to post this since the author said it might be in August, but it doesn’t seem like it’s gonna happen soon so I’ll just post this part now. Please read the note after the chapter to know how you can show your support to the author.

Anyway, here’s the chapter, I hope you’ll enjoy it!

Chapter 116 (Part 2)

【”Tangled up in something? Meaning?”】

【”When I went to visit again, that person had forgotten about being saved by you. Suddenly, the story became that they were attacked by monsters, fainted, and were carried to the hospital before they came to.”】

If that person’s memory was manipulated, it was probably through Justus’ doing.

However, Harold did not understand what would have been the meaning of doing that.

【”Ridiculous. I’m sure that person was just having hallucinations from being on the brink of death.”】

【”No way! That’s definitely not it!”】

【”What are you, a doctor? How would you know?”】

【”Because it was weird! That person didn’t just forget about being helped by you, that person completely forgot about the existence of Harold Stokes!”】

The problem was neither that the knight had a fuzzy memory nor a simple memory loss.

The knight had lost every memory regarding one single person. It was a strange occurrence.

Granted, maybe this could happen in nature in some outlying case, but, at least for Sid and Elen, it probably felt far too specific for Harold alone to be forgotten completely.

【”In the past, soon after you were sentenced to death, chief Cody told us “It’s not about whether you can believe  in Harold, but whether you can believe in yourselves”. But even though I thought you were innocent, I didn’t believe in myself…!”】

【”It was the same for me. Even though you words were always snide, I knew you weren’t a bad guy… But I didn’t act on those thoughts.”】

Their feelings of regret were transmitted more than well. Even under the dim light of the bar, the tears building up in their eyes were clear to see.

Though Robinson wasn’t here, he too was probably blaming himself for not believing in Harold’s innocence, just like his two comrades.

Harold had not spent much time in the knight order, but he knew these three friends were very kind.

Therefore, he took it upon himself to speak and try to convey something along the lines of “Don’t worry about it”.

【”No matter what angle I look at this from…. You’re utter morons.”】

【”W-what? We’re sincerely apologizing to you over here!”】

【”And that’s why I’m saying you’re morons. What exactly are you apologizing for?”】

【”Well, obviously it’s because we wanted to believe in you but-…”】

【”Alright, let’s imagine a world where you’d have declared my innocence loud and clear… What would that have changed? Do you seriously believe the likes of you could have done anything about that jury’s sentence?”】

Sid and Elen did not answer. They stayed quiet.

Even if they had intervened as they wished and gotten all the knights of the order to speak against Harold’s sentence, the results would have been the same.

After all, it had already been determined from the start, before any deliberation, that Harold would get the death penalty.

【”While I’m at it, I’ll let you in on something. The removal of that death sentence was always the plan. It was set up from the get go.”】

【”【”Huh?”】”】

Sid and Elen reacted the way Harold wanted.

Of course, this was a lie.

The whole series of events after the battle in the Bertis forest had been completely out of his expectations.

But even so――

【”I’m still alive. Isn’t that proof enough for the dirt you have for brains?”】

Harold laughed with a mocking tone.

He laughed because he was used to dealing with problems this way.

He laughed to hide his heart-wrenching gratitude towards the kindness of these two comrades, who had been dealing with regrets for years, wanting to apologize to a lost cause like Harold Stokes.

He could only hide those feelings.

After all, ‘Harold Stokes’ would not show gratitude in such a situation.

And so, to reward their kindness, Harold used his usual method instead.

【”Heh, how laughably arrogant of you to assume you might have been able to change something back then.”】

【”Arrogant?! You’re the one person I don’t want to hear that from!”】

【”Being arrogant means putting on airs out of pride. Unlike you, I am not arrogant, I do not put on airs. I behave to the level of my abilities.”】

【”I’m pretty sure that manner of thinking is arrogant enough on its own.”】

Harold’s statement was arrogant indeed, and that meant everything was fine.

That meant there was no need to feel guilty.

Through his behavior, Harold was emphasizing on the fact that he was still the same, and that worrying about him was meaningless.

【”Damn it! Still as haughty and domineering as ever!”】

【”Haaa… Where are we going to pour all our pent up worries and regrets now…”】

【”At times like these, you gotta drink, Sid! Harold will take care of the tab!”】

【”Hey, what do you think you’re-…”】

【”I don’t care! You’re a noble, you should pay for these types of things like it’s nothing!”】

【”…That’s right! Alright, drinks are on Harold, today we’re gonna gorge ourselves all night!”】

【”…Don’t you have any shame?”】

Well, in all truth, Harold liked their current behavior better than those gloomy faces they’d been making earlier.

Given everything he had done to save their lives, the one thing he wanted in return was for them to live their lives with smiles.

The timing of this reunion worried him, but he still hoped they would somehow calmly go on with their lives without raising more death flags…

【”Oh, I forgot to tell you! Once we’re done with this mission, we’ll be getting married! Where should we send you the invitation?”】

【”I mean, we were your seniors at one point, you wouldn’t miss our wedding, would you～?”】

【”Are you kidding me? Shut your damn mouths.”】

Harold’s hostile words were not directed towards the marriage invitation.

Rather, if he had to say, it was directed at the act of getting married itself.

(『When this battle is over, let’s get married…』is one of the deadliest death flags there is! )

Apparently, Harold’s bad feeling was on point. 

In a certain sense, Ellen and Sid were just as loved by death flags as Harold himself.

Another issue had just mercilessly set itself upon Harold’s already full plate.

    the link to the raw manga is weird, it wont bring me to the My Death Flags manga but simply the homepage? and when i try and click on Death Flags or other manga it just refreshes the homepage

At this rate Erica is gonna slaughter him with a laser beam and later contemplate why did he hold back…. Did he hated me so much that he rather die by my hands then live on his own ?

    Oh! The biggest death flag unfurled… not for Harold.
    I think one of Harold’s biggest problems is that the people in this world don’t even have the concept of death flag. Despite constantly being skewered by them.
    How painful their flag invitation must have been for our MC to hear?

    The story is starting to get interesting.
    Especially about fate shenanigans, which people saved by him is starting a new death flag.
    Also the villain is starting to outsmart Harold’s game knowledge, like true evil mad genius.
    But I’m starting to lose hope when the author doesn’t post anything in 5 months.
    That’s the longest time for author not post anything.
    It feels like he will forget his own stories, and end it.
    Or encouragement will become pressure in different kind of sense.

    First thing, Thank you for the translation of Death flag ! I discover the manga and take a like to it so i just try the novel and… Here i am after a week ? i may have rush it a little too fast…

    I powered through this from Chapter 1 or now in about 4 days and all I have to say is…

    I just want someone to do what’s best for Harold. It’s kind of nice that they “want to respect his wishes” but after seeing how many times they’ve discovered he was doing good while masquerading as a villain, I wish Erica would just admit her feelings to him. Perhaps I’ve forgotten something in the marathon reading sessions but I guess I’m just sad to see them hurting themselves and eachother when it seems so easy to at least alleviate some of the pain they all feel.

    either way, it’s been a fun ride. Hopefully this is reaching a meaningful and satisfying conclusion soon-ish. I’d like to see Harold and Erica be happy together soon.

    For those asking about next chapter. It’s available through Defiring patreon. It’ll probably remain that way until next chapter is released. The last few releases by the author were from June and then November so… It might be awhile for another update.

    (°?°?) soo…. i was just wondering that the genre: romance, harem.. but… i was thinking that wheres the romance and harem?(???) thingking about it… harold and erica didnt progress anything.. i mean it did progress with a so called “misunderstanding” (?????)? but still waiting for them to be happy get together or what so ever… thank u for TL defiring-sann~~~ im sorry im not really good at english.. and hoping that this novel will update more often

    Okay, I don’t mean to sound ungrateful, and I’m very appreciative of all the chapters that have been translated for FREE by you, it’s a very kind thing to do but it’s been about 7 months since the last chapter update. It’s been four months since the author updated the novel, and it’s been 2 months since you said you would update, I’ll discount January since something happened to you and I’m very sorry for that. I feel like ya readers should at least get the respect of a message or notification to tell us what’s going on, where’s this all going, when we might get a new chapter. You don’t owe us anything but it’s just left a bad taste in my mouth coming back from days, to weeks, to months and months on end with no explanation, no official message and just a blank page.

    Just caught up, the story is great and the translation is one of the best I know, it’s reassuring to see you this invested as there are lots of stories left untranslated and where we’re forced to give up or try our best with bad MTL, you’re the one who knows best when to post chapters so if you feel there’s the need to wait don’t get pressured by some comments, we don’t want the story to end abruptly simply because we didn’t show enough support at the right time.

    Anyway stay strong and we’re still backing you up, both you and the author

    For everyone’s reference, Tsuki ga Michibiku Isekai Douchuu had a nearly two year break after the manga started getting published. Be patient and support the series if you really want to see it continue.

    Hey, thanks for translating this awesome novel…I’ve come after reading the latest chap of Death Flag manga, and due to wanting to prolong the experience, I’ve been nibbling slowly at the novel chaps within a month but well i caught up lol. I hope you and the author are doing well and keep up doing a great work in foretelling this story (can’t wait for Erica to grow closer to Harold)(also I feel something ominous with how that mad researcher is doing, hopefully harold wont die from whatever plans it has, i have my speculations hehe). I’ll wait here patiently for both novel and manga updates so take care and thanks for this story

    It made me happy to see the manga was also becoming more successful (top read chapters 24h after each update on mangadex before the site went down).

    I don’t know what it is about this story, but it really pulls on the right strings for me.
